Abstract

The physical and chemical component, bioactive substance, concentration of sodium & potassium and antioxidant properties of yellow Ipomoea batata were examined. Crude fiber, moisture content were present; phytosteroids, phenols, tannins, flavonoids, protein & amino acids were bioactive substances found in both peels and tuber of the plant. High potassium content and low sodium content were also present in the plant. The extracts showed that it contained an antioxidant properties, the presence of this important substances makes this plant a useful neutrocetical therapy for better health management.
